The programme for senior citizens (since 1991) is a system of services for the people in their old age. The goal of this programme is to help the seniors and support them in their independence. The project started already in 1991 with opening the Home of Peaceful Old Age in Nedašov which was probably the first retirement home for the seniors established by a nongovernmental institution after 1989.
The programme is conceived as a complex of services which can loosely follow each other. Field work services, nursing services and home care services enable the senior citizens to stay in their natural domestic environment. These services aim at assisting the seniors directly in their households, and this enables the old people to stay in the environment they are familiar with.
Short stay wards as an ambulatory service should help the seniors actively spend their daytime in the community while not losing the touch with their own families.
People who need full-time care are offered stay services in retirement homes. An integral part is highly specialized services for the people suffering from dementia including Alzheimer´s disease. The retirement homes provide all-year stay of a permanent or temporary way. The accommodation is designed in singlebed- and doublebedrooms with their own hygienic equipment and the possibility to customize the furnishing. An inseparable part of the services is a religious and pastoral care respecting the residents´ denomination.
Some wards of the retirement homes are run in a special regime, or there are some specialized independent facilities. These are designed for a temporary or permanent stay of the seniors with orientation disorders, especially with Alzheimer´s disease.
Parts of the programme are:

• field work services: nursing care (social service) and home care (medical, geriatric care);
• ambulatory social services: short stay wards;
• accommodation services: Homes of the Peaceful Old Age (retirement homes and homes with a special regime);
• medical care: basic care in homes, health rehabilitation, a GP surgery;
• religious and pastoral care;
• complementary services.
